-
- Version 1.0.029 of GRUNT and above have changes to the USER RECORD STRUCTURE.
-
- If you are currently running a version of GRUNT that is 1.0.028 or LESS, then
- you must run the program CNV28-29.EXE (after the installation) to update your
- USERFILE.DAT file.
-
- There are also changes in the CONFIG.DAT file you may wish to review. Simply
- edit it with a text editor.
-
- Version 1.0.029 of GRUNT and all future versions add an OVERLAY file
- (GRUNT.OVR) to the game to optimize the use of your EMS memory. It is highly
- advisable that you BACK UP YOUR GRUNT FILES (you can do the following PKZIP
- command to do this: PKZIP -EX -RP BACKUP.ZIP C:\GRUNT\*.*). Just in case the
- new OVERLAY file does not work with your system, you have the chance to use
- GRUNT without the overlay option.
-
- Some systems need to do an ATTRIB +R on the GRUNT.EXE and GRUNT.OVR files to
- get them to run better. You may try this before moving to the GRUNT-N.EXE
- version:
-
- I have also included the file GRUNT-N.EXE for a "NORMAL" version of GRUNT
- without the OVERLAY ability. If you are having trouble with the GRUNT.EXE and
- GRUNT.OVR, simply erase GRUNT.EXE and GRUNT.OVR and rename the GRUNT-N.EXE to
- GRUNT.EXE and try it that way.
-
- I have also added a new CLEANUP processing utility into GRUNT. This process
- stocks and cleans the dungeon once per day. This cleanup is VERY necessary to
- keep the dungeon-module in harmony. It cleans up stuff left around like
- monsters and objects, closes doors, re-stocks monsters that may have been
- killed off (so new adventurers can experience the same adventure without it
- being spoiled). In previous versions of GRUNT, it was placed internally - but
- through user and sysop complaints, it has been moved externally. You will want
- to place this cleanup file in your BBS nightly event to insure a clean dungeon
- each day.
